The 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships were held in Valencia, Spain. On a windy day, D Jay Geb ran his heart out for 66th place and a super PB of 63.47 in the World Half Marathon champs in Spain. The most impressive aspect of Dejen’s race was the fact that he went out hard, maintaining contact with the superstars of the sport for the first 5km, which he hit in 14.34. He was already struggling a bit by 10km reached in 29.48 after a long segment into the strong headwind. Dejen was only overtaken by Aussie record holder Collis Birmingham in the last 150m with Collis beating him by 3 seconds. This race has given Dejen the confidence to tackle a serious attempt at the marathon in the near future.
