There has been some spectacular racing from MELBOURNE PACKERS over the last few days!
Lakeside Stadium saw 3 out of 3 PBs for packers at the Victorian Milers Club meet on Thursday night. Dion Finocchiaro (4.01.02) Michael Kernahan (4.02.90) and Lachie Moorhouse (4.13.02 and pictured above number 3161) blitzed their PB by big margins in their 1500m races. Ultra marathoner Dion actually produced the ‘kick of the night”!
The Little Athletics Victorian State champs were also at Lakeside Stadium over the weekend. After beating the Chelsea u/13 club record for 800m on Friday night (2.20.5), Alexander Gibson  came 11th in the state 800m final on Saturday in 2.18.30 (PB) and 7th in the 1500m final on Sunday in 4.49.10. He was closely pursued by Hudson Bucci  in a PB of 4.49.89. Tilly Williams  made the equal 3rd highest jump of 1.05 in the u/9 girls high jump and was awarded 9th place on countback.
At the Karkarook ParkRun Greg Watson ran a course PB in 17.01, closely followed by evergreen Rohan Day who at 47 ran his fastest for over a decade (and a ParkRun PB) of 17.23. Sean Williams returned to the sub 18 zone with a 17.46 aged 50. Vernon Gibson is proving to be OLDER YET FASTER  with his PB of 22.03 aged 50.
Stuart J Capel has been a very busy man training hard and racing. Last weekend he won TWO events. a) Koonawarra ParkRun and b) Kilcunda Keeping Kids on Track 15km on a very challenging trail. He won by over 6 minutes and broke the course record by 90 seconds.
